My name is Shandol Diggs.
I am a licensed cosmetologist in Illinois and Georgia and have over 12 years of experience in hair and hair care.
How it all started?
Never stop believing in yourself…
I started doing hair even as a little girl, growing up and I started my journey professionally, working at a Barber shop in Waukegan IL, called Pancho’s beauty and barber shop. This was while still in Cosmetology school.
I graduated in 2013 from Pivot Point Academy then soon started at Greats Clip in 2014. I left Great clips to work at Hair Cuttery in 2015 where I learned so much. I became one of the booked hairstyles and colorists there. I learned from the most amazing skilled ladies in the hair industry. I started bringing my African American clients to the salon because I was the only African American there. We changed the game.
I used to do a lot of young girls’ hair who were adopted by some amazing women from all different types of cultures, they entered me into this foster group on Facebook where I give free feedback when asked to mothers from all different types of backgrounds. I was so proud and happy for the opportunities because they believed in me and my work.
This inspired me to write my first book, ‘Mya’s Kinks’. I am a mother to two beautiful girls. I now live in Georgia, and I want to give back and inspire young girls to be who they are while growing their hair. I am also Building a brand called Shandal Beauty Bar where all-natural hair oil and body oils are made.
